This is a boring blog with pictures of my family, my pets, and projects that I'm working on. I sew, garden, play with the equines, run, shop, read obsessively and have far too many hobbies to keep up with. Married, with 2 little kids that terrorize me: Leah is 8 and Eric is 11. Live on an acreage in Alberta, Canada with 1 horse and 1 pony, various outdoor cats, 1 fluffy hamster, 1 tiger salamander, and 2 hermit crabs. And that is AFTER cutting down on pets!

Took my kids to a flash mob!
Took the kids to a flash mob to support the Hockey Marathon for Kids. This was a 10 day around the clock game to set a world record and to raise 1.5 million for the children's hospital.
We arrived just before 8am, thinking we would leave by 8:15 so the kids would make it to school on time.
A large crowd had gathered, but we did not "mob" until 8:25!
Eric and Leah blowing their noise makers!
The kids were 5 minutes late for school, and I was 25 minutes late for work! Oops!
But it was fun.

Make your own race bib belt
I was looking for a way to attach my race bib and still be able to easily shed layers during a
race. I could buy a race belt which has little tabs to attach the bib to, or attachments for my
FuelBelt which also have the little tabs.
After looking at the little tabs, I figured I could just make it myself.
It was so easy. A length of shockcord (which is basically round elastic) long enough to go
around my waist, and two cord locks. You don't even need the cordlocks, you could just tie
knots in the ends. I already had both, so my race bib "belt" cost me nothing.
If I need to shed a layer, I can easily pull it out from under the shockcord. No struggling
undoing safety pins while running!
I tested it out in a half marathon, and it worked perfectly!

Driftwood garland
Saw this at Crate and Barrel and loved it! It would be a great craft project for the kids - find little bits of driftwood at the lake, drill holes (an adult), then string on fishing line.
